The Lit & Phil
About the event
Opened in 1825, the Lit & Phil is the largest independent library in the UK outside of London and they’re joining forces with NE1 this festive period to offer free tours of the building as part of 24 Doors of Christmas.
Accompanied by an experienced tour guide, you’ll wander the building’s beautiful book-filled interior and learn all about its rich history, famous visitors and world-firsts – including how it’s home to the first ever public room to be lit by electricity.
Whether you’re a bookworm, a history buff or just adore stunning old buildings, a tour of the Lit & Phil will leave you fascinated.
Tours last 1 hour and take place at 10:30am, 2pm and 6pm. This event is free but tickets must be reserved in advance. Book your tickets here. (https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/24-doors-lit-phil-tickets-1082113313049).
